    Sunshine Coast a Melanoma Hotspot

    Sunshine Coast a Melanoma Hotspot

Cancer Council Queensland research has identified Queensland’s top melanoma hotspots and figures show the Sunshine Coast incidence of people diagnosed with melanoma each year to be 71 people per 100,000. This is a very high rate and a further reason why those living here should have their skin checked by Solaris Skin Cancer Clinic.

The Cancer Council’s Atlas of Cancer in Queensland shows that while some coastal areas have higher rates of melanoma, there is variation among regions – with populations in more advantaged areas tending to have higher rates of the disease.

Melanoma need not be a death sentence, and early detection improves survival rates. More than 40,000 Queenslanders are alive today after a melanoma diagnosis.
